ETCH-A-SKETCHING TO THE FAR LEFT

Mitt Romney, after winning the Republican nomination, for President, spoke about pivoting from the rhetoric needed to win the Primary, as Etch-A-Sketching to the center.  The reference was to a child's toy which erased what was done in the past as you continued to draw on the device.

In a speech, given by Ivanka Trump, on Day 4 of the Republican 2016 Convention, probably broke the record for going past the center.  Ivanka didn't stop until she reached the Democratic Party platform.

  1. Didn't hear Ivanka's speech ... but, do we really take anything seriously or reliable from "The Lyin' Trumps" (trademark! Stephen Colbert just trademarked "Trumpiness" http://www.vox.com/2016/7/19/12222520/the-word-colbert-trumpiness-rnc)? As a summary of the chaotic cyclone the country was subjected to ... wall-to-wall coverage of the RNC (?), and, hopefully having learned the lesson on plagiarism, may I offer Andy Borowitz and Trevor Noah ... just in case you missed it? Can't improve on perfection.

  2. What I found striking about Ivanka's speech was how often the goals she preached contradicted both Trump's and the party's actions and legislation. Forget striking promises like Bush Sr.'s "Read my lips: No new taxes". Strike Ivanka's entire speech.

Ivanka's propaganda wasn't meant to deceive the GOP supporters, it was meant to help them to deceive themselves. Trump's campaign slogan is the perfect example: Make America Great Again

    As Noam Chomsky points out:

“That's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for. Nobody knows what it means, because it doesn't mean anything.” ~ Noam Chomsky
