PATHOLOGICALLY UNABLE

My take on the impeachment, of Trump, is that the Republicans will acquit him without allowing witnesses thereby forever owning responsibility for not having gotten rid of him when they had the opportunity.  Trump is enamored of his clever but unwise schemes and probably will be pathologically unable to resist another one between now and the election.

THE TRIAL OF HUNTER BIDEN?

The Republican-majority in the Senate can call any witness they want, including Hunter Biden in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, or any hearing whatsoever,  The question is why hasn't he been called before.  Why hasn't he been investigated by Bill Barr's Justice Department?  Could it be that he already has been investigated and found that he has not violated any U.S. law? There is no law prohibiting any American citizen from working for a Ukrainian company in Ukraine.  There is no U.S. law limiting the amount of money that an American citizen can earn abroad.  Could they arrest him for tax evasion?  They would run into the same laws that are protecting Donal Trump from disclosing his tax returns, wouldn't they?  Perhaps Trump would be happy with the testimony of Hunter Biden but will the Republicans?

A GRAMMAR LESSON FOR CONSERVATIVE FRIENDS

Some of my Conservative friends have been demonstrating a deficiency in their knowledge of the use of the possessive apostrophe in the English language and in the interest of their proper usage would like to clue them in.  The proper meaning of the acronym, "TDS" is Trump's Derangement Syndrome.  Failure to use the apostrophe not only is inaccurate but does nothing to cure the condition.

AN APPROPRIATE AWARD

Watching the Trump impeachment trial, I can see why Trump may have some merit in feeling that he is entitled to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to himself.  After all, in his zeal to have Ukraine enforce its laws, by investigating the Bidens, he was willing to break at least two (2) US.laws. This willingness to break this countries law is such a selfless act, we really must find him some kind of award.

NO MORE SHARING OF POWERS

Failure of the Trump impeachment legal team to file a legal brief contesting any allegations of fact is tantamount to stipulating that they are true, but instead, will claim the President may legally not only attempt to force a foreign power to provide false information to help a President to retain power but can also withhold information from the people that might reveal wrongdoing of the President, as well.  To assuage any misgivings of their constituents, Republican Senators may be assuring them similar power will not be granted to any Democrat, especially to any black president.

THE SAME REASON ALLOWS OR DENIES.

Alan Dershowitz pontificated, on TV, this evening, that Trump should not be impeached on the grounds of Abuse of Powers because it is not specifically listed as grounds in the Constitution and at the same time, because he enjoys broad powers of executive privilege, he can not be impeached for Obstruction of Congress.
Nowhere in the Constitution does the concept of Executive Privilege even appear.  So, depending on who is footing his legal bill, the Constitution either protects or allows for the same reason.

WHY THE FUSS?

It has come to my attention that Trump is severely pissed with the United States for its attitude towards his having ordered the assassination of an Iranian General on a legal visit to Iraq. Trump says that he has two friends who run what he considers s-house countries compared to the U.S., namely Russia and Saudi Arabia who order killing of foreign nationals on the soil of other countries all the time, and nobody dares to make a stink whereas he, a much more powerful leader, has to deal with the fuss

WHAT ME WORRY?

Even as Trump takes victory laps about how Iran is standing down, their centrifuges are whirring away and Iran will be a nuclear power, shortly.  Trump, however, is unconcerned, as he plans to deal with Iran the same way he has so successfully dealt with North Korea.  He will begin sending Valentine's Day cards to the Ayatollahs and that should take care of it.

SOMETHING I LEARNED TODAY

Today I learned that Trump has not, as the Press claims, told 14,000 lies, to date, while in office. The correct number is 13,435.  No wonder Trump calls it Fake News.

ADEQUATE FORCE PROTECTION?

While the casualty assessment of the Irani bombardment of the Iraqi bases has been eerily slow in being made public, I hope it has not been lost on our military, and its commander-in-chief, that the missile capability, and its accuracy, of Iran, has been amply demonstrated and that we have around 30,000 American troops, stationed in countries within range of Iran's short-range missiles I doubt that adequate resources were put in place prior to the planned assassination of Soleimani which would be tantamount to gross negligence.

TRUMP THINKS HE CAN HANDLE ANY SHORTFALL

Iran says that they have no quarrel with the American people and their revenge will be directed at Trump personally.  This has led some to believe that Irani retaliation will proceed against Trump's properties.  Trump says he is not concerned because the American taxpayers will pick up any shortfall in revenue.  "I might have to play a bit more golf," said Trump, "but I think I can handle it."

FACE OF AN IMMINENT THREAT

Trump supporters, in response to critics claiming that the administration has yet to produce evidence of an imminent  threat
to justify the assassination of Soleimani, say that they are waiting for the first retaliatory strike, by Iran, to present the evidence.

A MOST POTENT UNIFYING FORCE

Say what you will, none can deny that Trump is the most unifying force to appear on the planet in several generations. Despite millennia of enmity between Shia and Sunni, it looks like Isis and  Hezballah are edging towards detente with a common goal, to stop the great barbarian  Trump, who would raze cultural sites to blackmail his enemies.

OH! THOSE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

I really don't think  Trump realized that by pulling out, unilaterally from the Iran agreement, he would be forfeiting non-military means to control Iran's behavior.  Few of our former allies will go along with any more sanctions leaving Trump with few options when dealing with Iran.

PATRIOTISM, THE LAST REFUGE OF SCOUNDRELS

Republicans, as they did for the Iraq War, have begun to question the patriotism f those opposing Trump's latest foray into strongarm diplomacy.

Regardless of what names they call us, all should know that Soleimano, the Iranian target of our airstrike, was a high profile target who was quite easy to locate.  Israel had many opportunities to take him out but refrained from doing so as the wiser course of action.

In the U.S., unfortunately, wisdom is often equated with a lack of patriotism while foolishness is mistaken for an abundance of same.

WHO IS DELUSIONAL?

So Trump's foreign policy has gotten us to the verge of a proxy war with Iran in, of all countries, Iraq?  Iraq, where we have already lost trillions of dollars, thousands of men and have gained the enmity of millions of Iraqis who would volunteer to help fight Iran's battles?

My Republican friends label my concerns "Trump Delusional Syndrome".  I wonder just who is delusional?
