GOVERNMENT BY EXTORTION

Those who believe that it is proper for Congress to deny funding to a vital Government agency, as a means to reverse an executive order, should bear in mind that all that is needed, to do so, is an an act of Congress, as our Constitution envisioned.  I doubt that our Founding Fathers considered extortion as part of a system of checks and balances.

  1. Nor would our Founding Fathers have considered shutting down the government to be a reasonable solution either. But nobody has ever accused our Republican congress members of late to be reasonable in any sense of the word ... with the possible exception of their purchase price. I hear there's quite a market for members of congress due to recent SCOTUS decisions. As a matter of fact, I just recently overheard a lobbyist ask John Boehner if he was free tonight and he replied "No, but I'm reasonable."
