Considering that most of the old Confederacy receives more revenue from the Federal government than it sends, the case may be made. With the present downturn in oil prices, it may turn out that all of the old confederacy, except Florida, will need Federal assistance. If the issue of secession ever arises again, let us not be so hasty in saying no.
I find it ironic that the majority of the southern states are firmly Red States and complain mightily about government aid and assistance, yet they are the very ones receiving the most.
