BETTER OFF DEALING WITH MUELLER

Based on glimpses into Mueller's investigative processes. and Trump's attorneys' reactions, I have arrived at a conclusion, albeit tenuous, that Trump's attorneys will do everything in their power to prevent Trump from firing Mueller.

There are no attornies, in Washington, so naive as to believe that any man will prevent his tax returns from being made public because "they are under audit".  They know, even if they are required to defend their client, that there is something damaging in those returns and they have to assume Mueller has access to them.

They also know that no one in the law enforcement community will ever buy the story that "he fired the F.B.I. Director because he was investigating a hoax".  The additional firing of a special counsel will not enhance the credibility of their client.

Mueller has "rigged" the system so that if he is fired, the investigations will continue under New York State law and that state's attorney will have access to Mueller's files.

At some point, Trump's lawyers may have to enter into negotiations for leniency for Trump and his family.  If Trump fires Mueller, he can expect none.  Trump is better off dealing with Mueller than Mueller's replacement.
